EMWD Recognizes Don Peterson Contracting as 2021 Supplier of the Year
Perris, CA (November 3, 2021) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) today recognized Don Peterson Contracting, Inc., as its 2021 Supplier of the Year.
Headquartered in San Marcos, Don Peterson has worked with EMWD since 2005 and is one of EMWD’s on-call mechanical contractors. The company has worked on projects including the Temecula Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility Headworks Influent Meter Replacement and Reach 4 Energy Dissipation Facility inflatable dam installation.
EMWD Kicks Off Perris North Groundwater Program
Perris, CA (December 21, 2020) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) this week kicked off its Perris North Groundwater Program with the construction of two groundwater wells in northern Moreno Valley.
The program is a long-term solution to improve groundwater quality in the Perris North Groundwater Basin, located in the Moreno Valley area. The program will not only address groundwater contamination, but it will also provide safe drinking water for approximately 15,000 households annually.
EMWD Welcomes Jeff Armstrong as New Board Member
Perris, CA (December 4, 2020) — Jeff Armstrong, who has decades of experience in water management, was sworn in today as Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) newest board member.
Armstrong was elected in November 2020 by the residents of Division 4 – the Perris and Menifee areas – to a four-year term that will run through 2024.
EMWD General Manager Paul Jones Honored By ACWA
Perris, CA (December 3, 2020) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) General Manager Paul D. Jones II, P.E., was recognized today with the John P. Fraser Emissary Award by the Association of California Water Agencies at its annual Fall Conference.
The award is presented to individuals who have made remarkable and visible contributions to the enhancement, protection or development of water resources in California through their support of ACWA’s goals.
EMWD Begins Work on McCall Boulevard Pipeline Replacement Project
Perris, CA (November 4, 2020) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) this month began work to replace an aging portion of pipeline in McCall Boulevard in the City of Menifee.
The McCall Boulevard Pipeline Replacement project will replace more than 6,000 linear feet of 12-inch pipeline between Bradley Road and Valley Boulevard. The existing pipeline is more than 50 years old and is being replaced as part of EMWD’s proactive replacement and refurbishment program.
EMWD’s Strong Financial Standing Reaffirmed

EMWD Honored for Financial Reporting Excellence
Perris, CA (August 3, 2020) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) was recently recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association, marking the 16th consecutive year that EMWD has earned the distinction.
EMWD received the Certificate of Achievement for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a 21,000-member nonprofit organization for government finance professionals.

EMWD Honors Sen. Feinstein with Water Champion Award
Perris, CA (March 12, 2020) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) today announced that United States Senator Dianne Feinstein has been awarded its Water Champion Award.
The EMWD Water Champion Award is presented to an individual who shows exemplary service in helping EMWD achieve its mission of providing clean, reliable water, wastewater and recycled water management services for residents of western Riverside County.
EMWD, UCR Partner on Water Affordability Study
Perris, CA (January 28, 2020) — An academic study by the University of California, Riverside’s (UCR) School of Public Policy, conducted in partnership with Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), has found that water and sewer costs within EMWD’s service area were a fraction of the federal government’s water affordability threshold.
UCR reviewed eight years’ worth of monthly water bills from EMWD’s service area and compared household water costs the costs of water to other household expenses as a fraction of median household income (MHI). They find that, on average, monthly water and sewer costs accounted for approximately 1.5 percent of median monthly household income.
EMWD Posts Unclaimed Money List
Perris, CA (January 16, 2020) —Current and former customers of Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) may be entitled to unclaimed money. Each year, EMWD posts a list of unclaimed monies, which are typically refunds associated with the closing of water accounts, water efficiency rebates or other fees.
EMWD attempts to locate the current address and contact these customers and developers, but those efforts are sometimes unsuccessful due to the lack of a forwarding address, companies closing, or other reasons. In addition, EMWD performs a search of its customer database to see if the customer has a current active account where the unclaimed money can be applied.
Be Sewer Smart with FOG This Holiday Season
Perris, CA (November 27, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) would like to remind its customers to be Sewer Smart this holiday season by limiting what they put down the drain.
As families come together and make large, holiday meals – including turkey and roast beef – often times significant amounts of fats, oils and grease (FOG) are collected at the bottom of cooking dishes. When those liquids are poured down the drain and enter the sewer system, they begin to harden as they cool and eventually solidify, causing blockages in customer’s homes and within EMWD’s sewer collection system.
EMWD Birding Tours Resume at San Jacinto Wetlands
Perris, CA (October 21, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD)’s popular birding tours resume this month at EMWD’s San Jacinto Wetlands and will run through April 2020.
The free, family-friendly tours will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month at the EMWD’s Wetlands, where guests can view more than 120 species of birds that call the facility their permanent or temporary home. Previous tour guests have spotted bald eagles at the site.
EMWD Awarded $36M Grant To Improve Local Groundwater Quality
Perris, CA (October 21, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) was recently awarded $36.3 million in grant funding from the State Water Resources Control Board, the largest grant in EMWD’s history.
The funding is a significant step toward the advancement of EMWD’s proposed Perris North Groundwater Program, which is a long term solution to improve groundwater quality in the North Perris Groundwater Basin, in the Moreno Valley area. The program would also make beneficial use of available local groundwater supplies, up to 6,700 acre-feet per year, further reducing reliance on imported water supplies.
EMWD Honored With Achievement in Procurement Award
Perris, CA (September 5, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) was honored for the sixth consecutive year with the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award by the National Procurement Institute.
The award recognizes public agencies that are industry leaders in their processes for purchasing goods and services.
This marks the 10th time EMWD has received the award, including annually since 2014.
EMWD Helps Students Stay Hydrated As Classes Begin
Perris, CA (August 26, 2019) — As students across the region begin going back to school this month, it’s a good time to make sure their back-to-school supplies include a reusable water bottle.
This fall, EMWD will complete work on installing water bottle fill stations at every school within EMWD’s service area that has requested one. These stations allow students and teachers to easily refill water bottles and stay hydrated with safe and reliable tap water.
EMWD Releases 2018 Water Quality Report
Perris, CA (June 20, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has released its 2018 Consumer Confidence Report, which provides customers information about water quality and sources of their drinking water supplies.
EMWD has again surpassed every federal and state drinking water standard, as set forth by the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
