About EMWD

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is the water, wastewater and recycled water provider to nearly 1 million people living and working in a 558-square mile service area in western Riverside County. EMWD is California’s sixth-largest retail water agency and its mission is “To deliver value to our diverse customers and the communities we serve by providing safe, reliable, economical and environmentally sustainable water, wastewater and recycled water services.”

EMWD’s water supply sources include water imported by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, local groundwater, groundwater desalination, and recycled water. EMWD treats more than 45 million gallons of wastewater per day and is a national leader in recycled water, which it uses 100 percent of its available supply each year.

EMWD provides service to retail customers located within the cities of Canyon Lake, Hemet, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Murrieta, Perris, San Jacinto, and Temecula, as well as the unincorporated communities of French Valley, Good Hope, Homeland, Lakeview, Mead Valley, Murrieta Hot Springs, Nuevo, Romoland, Valle Vista, and Winchester.

EMWD also supplies water on a wholesale basis to three city water departments and four other retail water agencies.
