District-Wide Water Booster Plant Improvement Project

Post - no search

Project Description: Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is seeking funding support to implement phased improvements of potable water booster facilities to mitigate the effects of wildfire and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events initiated by Southern California Edison. The improvements include the installation of emergency standby generators and block walls at select facilities.

Boosters receiving generators were selected based on the impact the PSPS events have had on their operation, with consideration given to the water pressure zone they supply. Boosters receiving block walls were selected due to their remote locations and proximity to potential wildfire zones.

The project will include the construction of block walls at seven booster station facilities and the installation of emergency standby generators at 10 different sites. Future improvements are anticipated at other booster stations throughout EMWD’s service area, including those within other Congressional Districts.

Project Timeline: Beginning early 2024.
