Perris, CA (September 6, 2022) — Due to the Fairview fire which began on September 5, 2022 within the Hemet area of Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) service area, the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Riverside County Public Health Department, and EMWD are advising residents of fire affected areas in east Hemet, CA to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution to avoid stomach or intestinal illness. The affected area impacts approximately 50 homes which includes: all of Polly Butte Road and the area east of 41477 Gibbel Road. See map below for reference.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking and food preparation until further notice. This is the preferred method to assure that the water is safe to drink.

For residents who are unable to boil water: Add 8 drops (or 1/8 teaspoon) of fresh, unscented, liquid household bleach per gallon of clear water OR 16 drops (or 1/4 teaspoon) per gallon of cloudy water. Mix thoroughly and allow it to stand for 30 minutes before using.  A chlorine-like taste and odor will result from this disinfection procedure and is an indication that adequate disinfection has taken place. Water disinfection tablets may also be used by following the manufacturer’s instructions.

EMWD will inform customers when tests show that water is safe to drink, and residents no longer need to boil water. It is anticipated that normal water service will resume 48 hours after EMWD crews are granted access to the area.

EMWD Emite Aviso de Hervir el Agua para Áreas Afectadas por el Incendio de Fairview en Hemet

Perris, CA (6 de Septiembre de 2022) – Debido al reciente incendio de Fairview que comenzó el 5 de Septiembre de 2022 dentro del área de servicio de Hemet de Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), la Junta Estatal de Control de Recursos de Agua (División de Agua Potable), el Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Riverside y EMWD aconsejan a los residentes de las áreas afectadas por incendios en el este de Hemet, CA que solo usen agua de la llave hervida o agua embotellada para beber y para cocinar como precaución de seguridad para evitar enfermedad intestinal o del estómago.  El área afectado impacta a aproximadamente 50 hogares que incluye: todo Polly Butte Road y todo el area este de 41477 Gibbel Road. Enseguida de este aviso encontrara un mapa para referencia.

NO BEBA EL AGUA SIN HERVIRLA PRIMERO.  Se debe hervir toda el agua, y déjar hervir durante un (1) minuto y déjela enfriar antes de beberla, o use agua embotellada. Se debe usar agua hervida o embotellada para beber y preparar alimentos hasta nuevo aviso. Este es el método preferido para asegurar que el agua es segura para beber. 

Para los residentes que no pueden hervir el agua: para agua clara, agregue 8 gotas (1/8 de cucharadita) de blanqueador sin olor de uso doméstico (household bleach) para 1 galón de agua. Para agua turbia, use una prenda de ropa limpia para filtrarla, y agregue 16 gotas (1/4 de cucharadita) de blanqueador para 1 galón de agua turbia. Mezcle bien. Deje reposar el agua por 30 minutos antes de usarla. Puede ser que el agua sepa o huela a blanqueador. Esto significa que el agua ha sido desinfectada. Las tabletas de desinfección de agua también se pueden usar siguiendo las instrucciones del fabricante.

EMWD informará a los clientes cuando las pruebas muestren que el agua es segura para beber, y los residentes ya no necesitan hervir agua. Se prevé que el servicio normal de agua se reanudará dentro de 48 horas después de que los trabajadores de EMWD tengan acceso a la zona.
