Eastern Municipal Water District is encouraging its customers to take a moment today to commit to water use efficiency as part of the United Nations’ World Water Day.

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 each year and is part of the United Nations’ efforts to raise awareness about the importance of clean water, responsible water use, and sanitation issues that help promote public health and sustainability.

EMWD is proud to be a national leader in these efforts through its investments in environmental sustainability, water use efficiency, and its modernized wastewater system that beneficially uses all of its recycled water supplies.

Among the commitments customers can make on World Water Day are to save water, purchase locally grown products made with less water, repairing leaks, and to use their sewer system responsibly by not flushing medications, fats, oils, or grease.

EMWD has a wide range of online resources available to help customers learn to use water more efficiently and to learn about their water quality.

“EMWD is proud to provide its customers with a safe and reliable water supply,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “We hope our customers will take a moment today to recognize the importance of doing their part to help use our water supplies responsibly and to appreciate the commitment we have all made toward protecting public health through for the communities we serve.”

Eastern Municipal Water District is the water, wastewater service and recycled water provider to nearly one million people living and working within a 558-square mile service area in western Riverside County. It is California’s sixth-largest retail water agency, and its mission is “To deliver value to our diverse customers and the communities we serve by providing safe, reliable, economical and environmentally sustainable water, wastewater and recycled water services.” More information can be found at www.emwd.org.
