EMWD Encourages Customers to be Sewer Smart This Holiday Season

Perris, CA (November 9, 2022) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) encourages customers to help protect their wastewater collection system this holiday season by ensuring they do not place items down the drain that can cause costly blockages and damages.

With families gathering for large meals – including those such as turkey and roast beef that produce large amounts of fats, oils, and grease (FOG) – EMWD is asking its customers to be Sewer Smart and properly dispose of FOG.

October 20, 2022 is “Imagine a Day Without Water” Day, and while EMWD has worked hard to ensure reliability for its customers, it is also an opportune time to ponder what would happen if our taps ran dry.

Perris, CA (October 13, 2022) —Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has been recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), marking the 18th consecutive year that EMWD has earned the distinction.

EMWD received the Certificate of Achievement for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a 21,000-member nonprofit organization for government finance professionals.

EMWD Receives $17M In Grant Support from State Water Resources Control Board for Perris North Groundwater Program

Perris, CA (October 6, 2022) — This week, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) received an additional $17 million in grant funding from the State Water Resources Control Board (State Board) to support its Perris North Groundwater Program (Perris North).

The State Board unanimously approved the funding, which will help EMWD make beneficial use of groundwater supplies in this region and also keep costs low for its customers.

Every year, the designated week provides a spotlight to the often-unsung work of water industry professionals and the important work they do on behalf of the public. The celebratory week runs October 1-9 this year.

Customers Encouraged To Take Advantage of Turf Rebate Opportunities

Perris, CA (September 28, 2022) — As California’s ongoing drought shows no signs of letting up, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is encouraging its customers to make lasting changes by taking part in the regional turf removal rebate program.

EMWD customers are eligible for the program, which will pay them up to $3 per square foot for turf removed at their homes. The rebates are available through www.socalwatersmart.com.

September is National Preparedness Month, which was established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The month offers a good reminder of the importance of being prepared for an unplanned situation such as an earthquake.

EMWD Issues Boil Water Notice for Areas Affected by Fairview Fire in Hemet

Perris, CA (September 6, 2022) — Due to the Fairview fire which began on September 5, 2022 within the Hemet area of Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) service area, the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Riverside County Public Health Department, and EMWD are advising residents of fire affected areas in east Hemet, CA to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution to avoid stomach or intestinal illness.

EMWD Program Awarded $10M Grant Through Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Perris, CA (August 19, 2022) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has received a significant financial investment from the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) to support its Purified Water Replenishment program through the recently enacted Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Biden.

EMWD, which has long been one of the nation’s leading agencies in securing state and federal grants, received a $10 million appropriation for its planned project in San Jacinto, Calif.

EMWD Committed to Working With CII Customers To Save Water

Perris, CA (August 16, 2022) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) wants to be a partner with its Commercial, Industrial and Institutional (CII) customers to help them do their part and reduce outdoor irrigation use during California’s ongoing drought.

The State Water Resources Control Board and EMWD have both recently adopted regulations prohibiting the irrigation of nonfunctional turf with potable water, with some exceptions – most notably if trees or perennial shrubs are on the same irrigation station as the nonfunctional turf.

EMWD: Reusable Bottles a Key Back To School Supply

Perris, CA (August 9, 2022) — As parents wrap up their back-to-school shopping, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) encourages them to add a reusable water bottle to their school supply list.

EMWD has Water Bottle Fill Stations at 114 schools throughout its 558-square mile service area, allowing students to easily and safely refill their reusable bottles with clean and reliable tap water.

EMWD’s award-winning Water Bottle Fill Station program has helped save the equivalent of several hundred thousand disposable plastic bottles from entering landfills.

EMWD to Expand Recycled Water Infrastructure in French Valley

Installation of Phase I of the French Valley Recycled Water Pipeline was completed in 2018. Phase II work will begin this year.
