Pipeline Productions - 2026 Video Contest
THEME: Think Before You Flush: That's Being Sewer Smart!
DEADLINE: Friday, February 6, 2026
Contest Overview
This is a class-based, teacher-directed project. Students may work alone or in groups of no more than three.
Students will brainstorm and develop a short, engaging video that shows the steps EMWD customers can take to keep our sewers healthy. To begin, students should explore the provided resources to understand how the sewer system works and why it’s important to care for it. The video should highlight common problems caused by improper sewer use—such as clogs, overflows, and environmental pollution—and offer practical solutions. Sample of key messages to highlight in a video are to never pour fats, oils, or grease down the drain; avoid flushing wipes, even those labeled "flushable"; and properly dispose of food scraps, trash, chemicals, and hygiene products.
Students can choose a creative format for their video, such as a skit, animation, music video, or news report, and should aim to make the message clear, informative, and fun.
Students will research and create an engaging video that:
- follows EMWD brand guidelines
- briefly introduces EMWD and its services
- builds a fun and engaging storyline rather than just stating facts
- depicts what steps EMWD customers can take to keep our sewers healthy
Students are encouraged to explore their creativity while filming, editing, and producing an engaging video for an audience of their peers. Production can be live-action or animation.
