Perris, CA (May 16, 2023) — Eastern Municipal Water District was honored this month for its outstanding media relations efforts by the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO).

EMWD was recognized with CAPIO’s Award of Distinction in the Media Event category for its Perris II Desalter Dedication event, hosted in June 2022. In conjunction with the ceremonial valve-turning to commission EMWD’s new desalination facility, EMWD hosted television, radio, print and online media entities to help educate the public about the new water supply source.

CAPIO is a professional organization for public sector communications officials in California. Each year, it recognizes industry-leading work at its annual conference through its Excellence in Public Information and Communications (EPIC) awards.
