EMWD Celebrates Drinking Water Week With Commitment to Quality

Press Release

Perris, CA (May 8, 2023) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is proud to celebrate National Drinking Water Week by encouraging its customers to enjoy a glass of safe and reliable high-quality tap water.

National Drinking Water Week was established by the American Water Works Association to highlight the commitment water agencies throughout the nation make to delivering clean drinking water. The celebratory week takes place each year in May, which is also Water Awareness Month.

Each year, EMWD conducts approximately 40,000 water quality tests to ensure its water supplies meet all federal and state drinking water standards established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the California Division of Drinking Water. The results of those tests are published annually in EMWD’s Consumer Confidence Report.

EMWD has a diverse drinking water portfolio that helps it to provide water supply reliability and water supply benefits. Those sources include water imported from the State Water Project and Colorado River, local groundwater, and groundwater desalination.

EMWD tap water is an incredible value too! Five gallons of EMWD tap water cost less than a penny, making it an exceptional value, especially when compared to bottled water.

“As we celebrate National Drinking Water Week, we hope that our customers take time to learn about their water supplies and EMWD’s commitment to delivering safe and reliable service to its customers,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “We are proud to deliver a clean and dependable water supply that our customers can count on each time they turn on their taps.”
