Perris, CA (May 2, 2019) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has completed work on a modern sewer system in the Quail Valley area of Menifee, marking the end to a long-awaited project that will protect water quality in the region.

The project connected 215 properties to the sewer system and was paid for through grant funding from a variety of agencies, including the State Water Resources Control Board ($8 million), Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority ($1.93 million) and the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board ($455,814). The City of Menifee has committed up to $200,000 for repaving costs.

“This project would not have been possible without the support of our funding agencies that recognized the critical need in Quail Valley and were steadfast in their commitment in providing a solution,” EMWD President Ron Sullivan said. “EMWD has worked for many years with those partner agencies and local residents to bring this sewer system to the region and we are proud to be able to provide sewer service to the first phase of the community.”

The Quail Valley Sewer – Subarea 9, Phase 1 – included the construction of a mainline sewer system and lateral connections to 149 existing homes and 66 undeveloped parcels. The new sewer system connects via gravity flow to a regional lift station that was constructed by EMWD and funded in part by the developers of Audie Murphy Ranch.

EMWD is committed to seeking additional grant funding for future phases of sewer service in Quail Valley. That grant funding is necessary to ensure that project costs are not borne by other ratepayers.
