EMWD Celebrates Water Awareness Month by Highlighting Tap Water Day
May is Water Awareness Month, with Drinking Water Week being held from May 6-12, 2018. EMWD, along with the American Water Works Association, will celebrate Tap Water Day Thursday, May 10, 2018, when the first 200 customers to visit EMWD’s Main Office lobby will receive a free reusable water bottle.
In a time where more than 3.4 million people die worldwide each year due to preventable waterborne diseases, the importance of public water systems that are committed to delivering safe and clean water has never been more imperative.
EMWD uses state of the art treatment facilities and technologies to provide water services that meet and are superior to all federal and state drinking water standards. EMWD conducts more than 46,000 water quality tests each year so that customers have confidence in the tap water delivered to their homes and businesses.
EMWD is also committed toward reliability and providing adequate fire flow for public safety, and promoting sustainability, even during dry years. At less than a penny for 10 gallons of water, EMWD is able to provide all of these services at an exceptional value.
“Tap water is one of the safest and best values that we are able to access each day,” EMWD Board President David Slawson said. “EMWD is committed toward providing safe and reliable water service that our customers have the utmost trust in. We look forward to continuing in our commitment to each and every customer with high quality tap water at an exceptional value.”
