Perris, CA (January 15, 2025) — Stephen Corona, an area farmer who has more than two decades of experience serving his community, was selected as the new President of Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) Board of Directors on Wednesday.
Corona previously served as Vice President and begins a two-year term as Board President. He takes over the ceremonial gavel from Phil Paule, who served consecutive terms as President.
“EMWD is an industry-leading agency, and I am excited for the opportunity to serve our communities and maintain our longstanding commitment of providing safe and reliable services at an affordable price,” Corona said. “EMWD’s Board has a long history of working collaboratively, and I am confident that we will continue to do so.”
Corona represents Division 2, which includes the City of Temecula, the southern and eastern portions of the City of Murrieta, and Temecula’s Wine Country. He was first elected to EMWD’s Board of Directors in 2018.
Prior to his tenure at EMWD, Corona served on the Board of Directors of Temecula-based Rancho California Water District for 16 years. He is a longtime farmer and active in the community. Corona also serves on the Board of Directors for the Riverside County Farm Bureau and the Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO).
David Slawson, who represents Division 5 – which includes most of Moreno Valley – was selected as Vice President. Slawson has served on EMWD’s Board of Directors since 1995.
