EMWD Awards Representative Darrell Issa with Water Champion Award

Perris, CA (March 26, 2026) – Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) presented the 2025 Water Champion Award to Representative Darrell Issa (CA-48).

This prestigious accolade is presented annually to an organization or individual who demonstrates exemplary service and dedication in assisting EMWD achieve its mission of delivering value to the diverse customers and communities we serve by providing safe, reliable, economical, environmentally sustainable water, wastewater, and recycled water services.

Issa received this honor during his final term in the House of Representatives, where he has served the constituents of the 48th Congressional District, many of whom reside in EMWD’s service area

Over the last two decades, Representative Issa has been a strong supporter of EMWD, most recently securing community project funding for the construction of major wastewater collection infrastructure in the Wine Country region of Southwest Riverside County and supporting recycled water infrastructure development in the community of French Valley.

“Representative Issa has been a major advocate for EMWD over many years. His dedication to his constituents, this region, and this nation has helped us to ensure reliable and quality service to our customers today and tomorrow,” said EMWD Board President Steve Corona. “On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we thank him for his many years of service to our region.”

Past winners of the Water Champion Award include: former EMWD Board Member Randy Record, The County of Riverside, the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, former United States Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congressman Ken Calvert, Congressman Mark Takano, former Assemblywoman and current State Senator Anna Caballero, former State Senator Bill Emmerson, former Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley, retired United States Bureau of Reclamation Area Manager Bill Steele, and former California Gov. Jerry Brown.
