THEME: Water and Wastewater Careers
DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 31, 2024
This is a class-based, teacher-directed project. Students may work alone or in groups of no more than two.
Students will brainstorm and develop a video depicting a story about careers in the water and wastewater industry.
Students will research and create an engaging video that:
- follows EMWD brand guidelines
- briefly introduces EMWD and its services
- highlights three different career paths within the water and wastewater industry
- specifies the education and skills needed for each career
- describes the benefits of working in the water and wastewater industry
- builds a fun and engaging storyline rather than just stating facts
- concludes by linking to preparing and planning for a career in the water industry while still in school to set a clear path to achieve this goal
Students are encouraged to explore their creativity while filming, editing, and producing an engaging video for an audience of their peers. Production can be live-action or animation.
Video Requirements
- 3 minutes maximum
- Created for an audience of high school students
- Must depict careers within the water district only
- Must include a student biography, teacher biography, and student dedication as credits at the end of the video
- Video becomes the property of EMWD
- No trademarked or copyrighted artwork or material will be accepted
Prizes
- Winning student(s) will have their video game published and receive their choice of either a Nintendo Switch, a JBL Waterproof Bluetooth speaker or Apple AirPods with charging case
- Winning teacher(s) will receive a gift card
