Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Honored with EMWD Water Champion Award

Perris, CA (May 15, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) recognized the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians (Soboba) today with its Water Champion Award.


EMWD’s Water Champion Award is presented to individuals or organizations who show exemplary service in helping EMWD achieve its mission to deliver value to its diverse customers and the communities it serves by providing safe, reliable, economical, and environmentally sustainable water, wastewater and recycled water service.


The award was presented at EMWD’s Board of Directors meeting.

Tap Water Highlighted During Water Awareness Month Events

Perris, CA (May 1, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is celebrating its commitment to delivering safe and reliable water service throughout the month of May in honor of Water Awareness Month.

As part of its service to providing clean drinking water to nearly 1 million people throughout western Riverside and northern San Diego Counties, EMWD will host several special events that are designed to educate the community about EMWD’s water supplies.

EMWD Launches Digital Wallet to Expand Online Payment Options

Perris, CA (April 18, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) customers now have additional ways to pay their water bills.

This month, EMWD debuted a new feature that allows customers to pay their bills through digital wallets, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo. In the first week of the program, more than 500 customers used the new service to pay their bills.

EMWD Secures Congressional Funding for Area Water Supply Projects

Perris, CA (April 5, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has secured federal funding for four major projects that will help provide greater water supply reliability to its service area in the coming years.

The funding comes from earmarks established in the Fiscal Year 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was signed into law on March 9, 2024.

EMWD Customers Benefit From Financial Strength Backed By Upgraded Ratings

Perris, CA (March 28, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) has been assigned an Aa1 rating by Moody’s Investors Service, marking the second time in a week that a major rating agency has upgraded EMWD’s financial outlook.

EMWD had previously been assigned an Aa2 rating by Moody’s. The rating upgrade applies to approximately $346 million in outstanding obligations rated by Moody’s.

EMWD Upgraded to AAA Credit Rating

Perris, CA (March 20, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD)’s commitment to financial excellence has been recognized when it received another AAA credit rating this week by one of the major rating agencies.

S&P Global Ratings (S&P), one of the three major rating agencies, raised EMWD’s long-term rating on water and wastewater revenue bonds to AAA from AA+. S&P also assigned its AAA/A-1 rating to EMWD’s Series 2024A refunding water and wastewater revenue bonds.

EMWD Receives National Honor for Recycled Water Outreach Program

Perris, CA (March 18, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) received national recognition for its recycled water outreach and education program when it was presented with the Award of Excellence from the WateReuse Association.

This marks the third consecutive year that EMWD has received a national Award of Excellence from WateReuse, a professional organization which advocates for the advancing of laws, policies and funding to increase the use of recycled water.

The award was presented at the 2024 WateReuse Symposium in Denver.

EMWD Tap Water Wins Multi-State Taste Test

Perris, CA (March 8, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) tap water is not only safe and reliable, but it is also award-winning.

EMWD was recently selected as the best-tasting tap water at the recent Multi-State Salinity Coalition conference in Denver, where it beat out competitors from a total of five states.

EMWD bested entrants from Texas, Maryland, Montana and Colorado for the top honors.

EMWD Celebrates World Wetlands Day

Perris, CA (February 2, 2024) — As part of its ongoing commitment to being a partner to the environment, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is proud to celebrate World Wetlands Day on February 2.

EMWD operates a man-made Wetlands facility at its San Jacinto Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The facility hosts public birding tours and is the home to EMWD’s nationally-recognized education program, which hosts regular field trips at the facility for students in EMWD’s service area.

I Spy: A Water Saving Piece of Art

Perris, CA (December 27, 2023) — A local elementary school student knows the importance of doing investigative work to find a water-wasting leak.

Brixton Rael, a third-grader at Calvary Chapel School in Moreno Valley, was recently honored by having his artwork included in the annual 2024 “Being Water Wise Is…” calendar, presented by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and its member agencies, including Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD).

Collaborative Approach Among Four Public Agencies Ensures Sustainability for Groundwater Supplies

Perris, CA (December 19, 2023) — For the past decade, the Hemet-San Jacinto Watermaster has been a critical administrator of a regional effort to create long-term groundwater sustainability throughout the San Jacinto Valley.

The Watermaster is comprised of representatives from the four public agencies that rely on the San Jacinto Groundwater Basin – Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD), Lake Hemet Municipal Water District (Lake Hemet), and the cities of Hemet and San Jacinto. Private groundwater producers are also represented on its Board of Directors.

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is celebrating World Toilet Day on November 19 by showing its appreciation to the role the porcelain thrones play in protecting public and environmental health throughout not only our service area, but the world.

Water Industry Careers Highlighted by Student Write Off Contest Winners

Perris, CA (September 28, 2023) — Eastern Municipal Water District has announced the winners for its annual Write Off contest, in which area students write and illustrate a book that will be incorporated into classroom curriculum as part of EMWD’s education programs.

This year, students were asked to create activity sheets that be included in the “Careers in Water Activity Book.” The program is designed to expose students to water industry career opportunities.

The annual Write Off contest is hosted in partnership with Rancho California Water District.
