Mead Valley Cajalco Corridor Sewer Project
Project Description
In the fall of 2024, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) will begin work on the Mead Valley Cajalco Corridor Sewer Project. The project will install approximately 11,500 feet of new gravity sewer on Cajalco Road between Carroll Street and Carpinus Drive. This project is necessary to accommodate future growth in the region and is partially funded by grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, courtesy of the County of Riverside.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Working hours for the project will primarily be from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., in order to minimize traffic impacts during the peak morning and evening commuting times. Traffic control will be in place throughout the project, including areas where alternate lanes or detours will be in use.
During later phases of the project, portions of Cajalco Road will be closed to eastbound traffic during working hours and detours will be in place directing motorists through residential areas. EMWD will pave the residential roads used for detours prior to the detours being utilized.
Some portions of the project will require night work, During this time, traffic flaggers will reduce traffic to one direction at a time. Cajalco Road will be closed to commercial truck traffic when lane closures or night work are in effect, and trucks will not be permitted on detour routes.
EMWD will provide advance notice to the community of lane closures or changes in traffic patterns. This will be done through electronic message boards on Cajalco Road, direct mail to nearby residents, and social media posts.
EMWD asks motorists to be alert and adhere to all temporary traffic control measures to ensure the safety of the community, motorists, and our work crews.
