Water Operations Integrated Operations Center (IOC) 24-Hour-a-Day Service

Although most of EMWD's employees work the normal day shift, within the Water Operations Branch, personnel are assigned on a 7x24 basis. The safe and efficient delivery of potable and recycled water and the reliable operation of the sewer system are constantly monitored. Operational adjustments can be made from the IOC via radio transmitted signals which are received at each facility.

Another function of the IOC is voice radio and telephone communication. Operations Representatives use this system to stay in touch with daily operations of the District and their internal and external customers.

Frequently asked questions and emergency actions are routed here. Some of the more frequently answered questions are as follows:

• High and low pressure concerns

• Metered, service, and mainline leaks

• Sewer blockages and manhole problems

A high majority of calls taken at the switchboard come to the IOC where someone can either help you or get you to the person that can.
