EMWD Tap Water Wins Multi-State Taste Test

Press Release

Perris, CA (March 8, 2024) — Eastern Municipal Water District’s (EMWD) tap water is not only safe and reliable, but it is also award-winning.

EMWD was recently selected as the best-tasting tap water at the recent Multi-State Salinity Coalition conference in Denver, where it beat out competitors from a total of five states.

EMWD bested entrants from Texas, Maryland, Montana and Colorado for the top honors.

The taste test was from water produced at EMWD’s Desalination Complex, which removes salts from brackish groundwater and produces enough clean drinking water for tens of thousands of households each year. EMWD conducts more than 40,000 water quality tests each year to ensure it meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards.

The Multi-State Salinity Coalition is a professional organization of water agencies throughout the southwestern United States that collaboratively work to address salinity issues in water supplies and promote advancements in desalination and water reuse.

“We are incredibly proud of the water quality we provide every day to our customers,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “In honor of this award, we will be toasting with a glass of award-winning EMWD tap water and we thank the Coalition for the opportunity to showcase our commitment to high-quality water supplies.”
