Clayton Record Named President
of EMWD Board
Clayton A. Record, Jr. of San Jacinto was elected
today to serve as president of Eastern Municipal Water District's
board of directors. His selection is effective immediately.
He will continue to also serve as EMWD's director
on the board of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
Mr. Record is a fourth-generation San Jacinto
native. He represents Division Three on the five-member EMWD board,
an area which includes the city of San Jacinto and the southern
portion of the city of Moreno Valley, as well as Lakeview, Nuevo
and several other unincorporated communities. He has served on Eastern's
board since 1995.
David J. Slawson of Moreno Valley, who stepped
down from the board presidency, will serve as vice president.
Both Record and Slawson will hold their new
positions until a scheduled reorganization of board officers takes
place in January 2001, following this month's election. Directors
are popularly elected to four-year terms. Record is not seeking
reelection, and Slawson's board term does not expire until 2003.
"A number of business commitments over
the next couple of months will prevent me from devoting the necessary
time to the duties of the board president," Slawson said, "and
I believe the issues facing EMWD require the attention of someone
who can focus fully on those matters in order to best serve our
constituents."
