Each year, EMWD sponsors a poster contest for students in grades K-5. This year's theme, "Turn it Off," gives budding artists the chance to illustrate the importance of water conservation.
The winning students, as well as their teachers, are honored at awards ceremonies throughout our service area.
Thirteen winning posters are selected for a spot on the 2008 EMWD calendar. Five top posters are submitted to Metropolitan Water District in Los Angeles for consideration and a possible spot on its WATER IS LIFE calendar.

Poster Illustration Guidelines
Students should follow these guidelines when designing their posters:
Poster must be on official poster paper (see teacher guidelines).
Posters must be drawn horizontally.
Use bright, brilliant colors.
Use colored pencils, markers, crayons, poster paint, ink, fabric, cut paper, pencil, and/or water colors.
A short message about water MUST be written on the poster. Be concise; fewer words are better than more.
Use only original artwork. No computer or trademark art.
Artwork becomes the property of EMWD and will not be returned.
If rules are not followed, poster will be disqualified.
Minimum one winner per school district and all private schools
