EMWD's Water Education Program provides a variety of educational materials, free-of-charge, to teachers in the 11 school districts and private schools within Eastern's service area.

Grades K-3
The Travels of Whitney Water Drop
Grades K-2
Follow Whitney Water Drop through the water cycle, into the home, down the drain and through the sewer to the wastewater treatment plant where she is cleaned. After she is cleaned and recycled, follow her to the parks, lakes, and farms.
Water and Me*
Grades K-2
A 13-page color and activity book. Includes matching items and simple puzzles. A two-page illustration of the water cycle and a mobile cutout help to reinforce basic thoughts about our natural resources. One book per student.
Save Water With The Conservation Kids
Grades 2-3
This coloring and activity book teaches students the concepts of water conservation. The seven pages of activities help students become more aware of water use inside and outside of the home, pollution prevention and water conservation.

Grades 4-6
Admiral Splash*
Grade 4 only
This 10-lesson unit integrates California’s history, geography, social studies, and science. Topics include the water cycle, the history and supply of water in California, water distribution, water usage and conservation. The unit includes a video, student workbooks, teacher’s guide, water poster, pre- and post-tests, leaflets, and stickers.
Re-supplies are available each year. Teacher in-service is recommended. *Also available in Spanish.
The California Water Story
Grades 4-6
This is a multidisciplinary program that enhances the study of California history and geography. Well- organized lessons include history, science, math and art, and geography that teach about California’s water resources. Includes poster, water fact card, lesson plans with worksheets and tests, stickers, water-guide, and video. One per teacher.
The Story of Drinking Water
Grades 4-9
An illustrated booklet that stresses the importance of water to all living things. Students learn about the physical and chemical properties of water. Included are the water cycle, water sources, treatment, and distribution. Figuring water costs and learning conservation methods are addressed. A teacher’s guide provides ideas for additional activities and some challenging exercises for middle school students. One per student.
The Geography of Water*
Grades 4-12
A California geography unit designed to teach six geographic concepts: elevation, physical features, precipitation, population, economy, and water supply and distribution. Students learn directions, map keys and legends, and neighboring states. Includes a teacher’s guide with lesson extenders. One per teacher. Teacher in-service is recommended.
Water Ways*
Grade 5 only
This new fifth grade unit is an activity-oriented supplement to the social studies curriculum. The materials are intended to be used during studies about Native Americans before the arrival of Columbus, the settling of the colonies, and the westward movement. Each of the three sections emphasizes the use of water, attitudes towards water, geographic concepts and water problems of the particular period. Includes a teacher’s guide and consumable student booklets. Teacher in-service is recommended.
Water Times*
Grade 6 only
Interdisciplinary (Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Math) that correlates to the California Content Standards for 6th grade. This material creates an awareness of water in a unique and interesting way. It is educational, fun, engaging, challenging and reinforces stewardship of our natural resources. Presented in a newspaper format, the curriculum is relevant to the lives of 6th graders and has been field tested by teachers and students.
