The EMWD's policy is to promote from within whenever possible. Therefore, position vacancies are posted in-house first.

If an entry-level position cannot be filled by a current EMWD employee, it is filled from the eligibility list. For more technical/specialized vacancies requiring additional education and experience, the EMWD normally places ads in the Sunday edition of the Press Enterprise.

Applications and resumes are accepted only during an advertised recruitment.

Job Line

Positions open to the public are announced on our Job Line, giving the title, a short description, the salary for the position, and the final filing date. You need a touch-tone phone to access the job listings on the Job Line.

Eligibility Lists

To be placed on an eligibility list you must apply at the time that we run a recruitment to establish a particular list. The EMWD normally advertises in the Sunday edition of the Press Enterprise when recruiting for an eligibility list.
